The future of medicine is not found in a laboratory alone. It is found in the intersection of data and the human spirit.
Yesterday, while walking through the bustling streets of Singapore, I was struck by the sheer speed of urban life. We are surrounded by sensors, smart grids, and constant connectivity.
But are we more connected to our own health?
I had a fascinating discussion with a group of health-tech founders about the "Data Paradox." We are collecting more biological information than at any point in human history, yet chronic disease continues to rise.
🔹 We focus on the "what" (the data) but ignore the "why" (the human behavior).
🔹 We build tools for clinicians but forget the agency of the patient.
🔹 We measure illness with precision but define health with ambiguity.
Innovation becomes meaningful only when it improves human lives. If a wearable device tells you that you are stressed but does not provide the "Longevity GPS" to navigate that stress, it is merely a digital burden.
We must move from a model of "Sick Care" to a model of "Human Flourishing."
This requires more than just faster processors or better AI models. It requires a shift in perspective—one that views technology as a supportive partner rather than a cold replacement for human intuition.
As I prepare for my keynote at the upcoming Digital Health Summit, I am reflecting on this: How do we ensure that the "Digital" never overshadows the "Health"?
Success is not measured by the complexity of the algorithm. It is measured by the years added to a life, and the life added to those years.
What is one way technology has made your health journey feel more human?
