Dear BoF Community,
The latest round of fashion weeks may not have offered the big bang of the designer debuts we saw in September and October, but this was a critical season for other reasons. If last time we had a first look at how a crop of newly installed designers aiming to revamp a long list of ailing brands, this time we got more of a sense of how their creative resets are bedding in — and landing with customers.
My first show this cycle was Jonathan Anderson’s second Dior Homme show on Jan. 21; my last was Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu show on March 10. In between, I saw a total of 59 shows; had 16 CEO chats; attended 15 dinners, 11 cocktails and three parties — and helped judge a fashion prize, visited a craft exhibition and had a top-secret fashion-tech demonstration.
All of this provided plenty of opportunity to take the pulse of a global fashion industry continuing to grapple with a historic downturn, not to mention the added uncertainty of another war metastasizing across the wider Middle East and Gulf region.
