Grace Liu positions herself as a high-achieving technical strategist and peer mentor who has mastered the art of the "non-linear" pivot from biology to elite software engineering. Her content strategy centers on radical transparency and "ungatekeeping" the tactical logistics of the internship grind, moving beyond generic advice to share specific GitHub repositories, hourly-updated job boards, and negotiation hacks. She is notable for her "training arc" philosophy, where she frames a gap year not as a break, but as a high-leverage period to stack prestige logos like Vercel, Databricks, and AWS. By intersecting career-pivot vulnerability with hyper-organized recruiting systems, she provides a roadmap for students to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry-leading engineering roles.

I’m ungatekeeping the exact 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 that helped me land 𝟲+ 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘀 this cycle.
When I first switched from biology to CS, my resume was empty. I had no big-name companies and no prior SWE experience. I felt like I was shouting into a void every time I hit "apply."
𝟭. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁-𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁" 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁
Instead of saying "built a website," say "built a full-stack application using React/Node.js that reduced data latency by 𝟮𝟬%." Numbers provide the signal recruiters are looking for.
𝟮. 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
If you don't have an internship, use research or hackathons.
Treat research like a job
List specific technologies used
Mention if you presented to a lab or professor
𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟰-𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲
Apply to roles within 24 hours of them being posted. The earlier you are, the higher the chance a human actually sees your resume before the headcount fills up.
It took me a long time to realize that recruiting is a game of 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀, not just skills. Once I changed my approach, everything shifted.
I want to help as many of you as possible break in this year.
🚀 If you want my 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 "𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲" and I’ll send it over!
♻️ Repost this to help someone else who is struggling with their search.
