how we built a 24/7 ai research agent for $0.12 an hour.
most people use perplexity or search manually.
it’s slow / it’s manual / it’s not scalable.
so i spent the weekend trying to break the "manual search" loop.
the goal was simple: a system that monitors 50+ sources, filters for signal, and writes a summary while i sleep.
→ n8n for the orchestration
→ firecrawl for the clean scraping
→ deepseek-v3 for the reasoning (cheap + fast)
→ slack for the delivery
the first version was a mess.
it hallucinated links. it missed the context. it was just "noise."
instead of giving up, we added a "critic" layer.
now, agent 1 finds the data.
agent 2 tries to prove agent 1 is wrong.
only the "verified" signal makes it to the final report.
the result?
we cut research time by 90%.
what used to take a human 4 hours now takes the machine 6 minutes.
this is the shift.
stop searching / start orchestrating.
