Sumit positions himself as a pragmatic engineering leader who bridges the gap between high-level AI hype and the messy reality of production-ready systems. His content strategy centers on the human-centric management of non-deterministic code, frequently drawing parallels between training autonomous agents and mentoring junior engineers to simplify complex technical transitions. What makes him notable is his recent shift from founder to operator following the acquisition of DoubleLoop, allowing him to blend product-led growth insights with deep engineering execution at Mixpanel. By focusing on the "delta" between demos and reality, he provides a grounded perspective that prioritizes long-term reliability over fleeting technological trends.

If you're working even tangentially around AI this worth a watch. I'd even argue if you're just a general AI user this is valuable to watch. To be really honest, I originally started watching to th…
This is (at least currently) dead-on. The delta between "that's an awesome demo" and "production-ready" with agents of any real complexity can be challenging to bridge. When building agents, you're n…

The gap between a "cool AI prototype" and a tool that actually survives the real world is massive. It's the difference between a magic trick and a utility.
When you're building with LLMs, you have to stop thinking like a coder and start thinking like a coach. You wouldn't expect a new intern to know your entire codebase on day one without a handbook. So why do we expect an agent to handle edge cases without clear guardrails?
I've spent the last week refining our internal prompts, and the biggest wins didn't come from "better" models. They came from better instructions. To be really honest, I spent way too long trying to code my way out of a problem that just needed a clearer explanation.
If you're struggling to get your agents to behave, try treating them like a human hire. Give them the tools, give them the context, and then get out of the way. 🚀
