Meenakshi Das positions herself as a human-centric data strategist who bridges the gap between technical AI advancement and social sector ethics. Her content strategy centers on dismantling the "move fast and break things" mentality, instead advocating for responsible AI infrastructure and intentional data collection within nonprofits. She is notable for her refusal to treat AI as a neutral tool, consistently challenging her audience to examine how automated systems might accelerate historical biases. By intersecting technical governance with radical empathy, Das transforms dry data policy into a vital conversation about community trust and institutional readiness.

Someone recently asked me why I do this work, and I realized I don’t share that answer with my community often enough. I get to do this work because we live in data. Whether we like it or not, know i…

The 100th edition of the newsletter data uncollected is finally here.
And it feels like a good time to talk about the difference between being fast and being ready.
In our sector, we are often told that speed is the only way to survive. We are told that if we do not adopt the latest tool today, we are already behind.
But I am choosing to ask a different question.
What happens to our communities when we move faster than our values can travel?
This edition is about the 'readiness gap'—the space between having the technology and having the governance to use it with care. It is about why a 2-hour volunteer assessment is not a substitute for a 10-year commitment to equity.
Read this to explore how we can build better infrastructure together.
● that speed without direction is just a faster way to get lost,
● that our data is a reflection of our relationships, not just our servers,
● and that being 'ready' is a collective practice, not a solo sprint.
i AM excited to share this milestone with you.
Because the last 100 editions happened exactly like the next 100 will. One question at a time, with care.
