Ann positions herself as a champion of human writing in an increasingly automated marketing world, combining literary reverence with sharp, self-deprecating humor. Her content centers on preserving voice, intention, and “weirdness” through practical guidance on punctuation, editing, AI tools like Claude, and the craft of making sentences matter. What distinguishes her is the way she turns small details, from the em dash to an eyelid twitch, into memorable arguments about creativity, care, and authenticity. She also uniquely bridges writerly craft and marketing leadership, using personal stories to promote books, conferences, speaking, and community without sacrificing transparency or personality.

Writing style breakdown
<start of post>
I opened an old notebook this morning and found a sentence I had written almost ten years ago.
I don’t remember writing the paragraph around it. I don’t remember what deadline I was avoiding, what coffee I was drinking, or which tab was making that tiny electronic sound that eventually drove me into the sea.
But I remember the sentence.
It was not brilliant. It did not deserve a prize, a plaque, or even a particularly attractive sticky note.
It was simply there, doing its small sentence job.
And for some reason, that made me happy.
We spend so much time trying to make the work impressive that we forget how much of writing is just showing up with a sentence and asking it to carry one ordinary thing from one brain to another.
Not the whole universe.
Just one thing.
A feeling. A question. A memory. The precise shape of a thought that has been wandering around the house at night, knocking over furniture.
I like that.
I like the smallness of it.
I like the way a sentence can be completely inadequate and still useful. I like the way it can arrive badly dressed, carrying no references, with one shoe missing, and somehow still know where it is going.
Maybe that is why I keep writing.
Not because every sentence works.
Not because the internet is waiting breathlessly for my next tiny arrangement of nouns and verbs.
Certainly not because my first draft has ever behaved like a responsible adult.
I keep writing because sometimes a sentence makes it across.
Sometimes it leaves the room inside my head, travels through my hands, appears on a page, and lands somewhere inside another person.
That still feels like a miracle.
A very small miracle.
The kind that does not require a spotlight.
Just a chair, a little time, and a sentence willing to try again.
What small thing are you still making?
