It was 20 years ago today...
That I started working at First Round Capital. I was lucky that Josh Kopelman asked me to join the small venture fund that he and Howard Morgan started about 18 months earler.
I had previously worked with Josh at Half and then eBay and we had originally met via the TED Conference. In fact, 20 years ago FRC wasn’t ready for a full time partner in so I was hired part time - and I spent the other part of my time leading Strategic Partnerships for Chris Anderson at TED. That same summer 20 years ago we launched TEDTalks, but it soon became obvious that First Round was a full time job.
Josh wrote this nice article in 2018 when I stepped back to board partner, and it says as much about working with him and the entire First Round team as it does about me. If you ever have the opportunity to work with them, take it.
