Andrew Ng positions himself as the preeminent bridge between technical AI research and practical industry implementation, serving as both a high-level visionary and a hands-on educator. His content strategy centers on the operational shift toward agentic workflows, moving beyond basic LLM chat to explore the "bottlenecks" of AI-native software engineering, such as product management and infrastructure reliability. He is notable for his ability to translate complex architectural trade-offs into clear strategic frameworks, often advocating for open-source progress against "anti-AI propaganda" and regulatory capture. The core of his work lies at the intersection of technical pedagogy and venture building, where he simultaneously launches specialized courses on memory-aware agents while scaling portfolio companies that solve the very latency and reliability issues he identifies.

If you’ve never written code before, this is for you. I’ve just launched a course that shows you, in less than 30 minutes, how to describe an idea for an app and build it with AI. In this course, you…

Important new course: Agent Skills with Anthropic, built with Anthropic and taught by Elie Schoppik! Skills are constructed as folders of instructions that equip agents with on-demand knowledge and w…
Another year of rapid AI advances has created more opportunities than ever for anyone — including those just entering the field — to build software. In fact, many companies just can’t find enough skil…
Happy 2026! Will this be the year we finally achieve AGI? I’d like to propose a new version of the Turing Test, which I’ll call the Turing-AGI Test, to see if we’ve achieved this. I’ll explain in a mo…

AI agents are fundamentally changing the economics of software maintenance. For years, technical debt has been the silent killer of innovation, consuming up to 80% of engineering resources in mature organizations. But as coding agents become more adept at refactoring and documentation, the cost of paying down this debt is plummeting.
I’ve seen this shift firsthand in our recent projects. Tasks that used to require a senior engineer a full week of tedious manual work—such as migrating a legacy codebase to a new framework or updating API calls across a massive repository—can now be initiated by an agent and reviewed by a human in a fraction of the time. This doesn't just make engineering faster; it changes the strategy of what we choose to build.
When the cost of change drops, the value of "perfect" initial architecture decreases. We can now afford to build quickly, knowing that the cost of refactoring later is no longer prohibitive. However, this leads to a new challenge: the Oversight Bottleneck. As the volume of code generated and refactored increases, the burden on human developers to ensure quality and security grows.
Architect systems that are "agent-friendly" with clear boundaries and interfaces
Design robust testing suites that allow agents to iterate safely
Move beyond syntax to focus on high-level system design and product logic
I’m excited to see how this evolves as agents gain better long-term memory and reasoning capabilities. If you’re interested in how to lead teams in this new era, I’m teaching a session on AI-Native Engineering next month.
