Most people think scaling is about doing more.
They think more leads, more features, and more headcount equals a bigger business.
It usually just equals more noise.
I learned this the hard way in 2012.
We were chasing every lead that breathed. Our calendar was full, our team was exhausted, and our churn was even higher than our growth.
We were busy, but we weren't building.
The shift happened when I stopped looking at the top of the funnel and started looking at the bottom.
I realized that 80% of our headaches came from 20% of our 'cheap' customers.
So we did the unthinkable.
We raised prices, tightened our filters, and started saying 'no' to anyone who didn't fit our ideal profile perfectly.
Revenue dipped for a month. Then it exploded.
Because when you stop managing noise, you start managing momentum.
Scaling isn't about addition.
It's about the discipline to subtract everything that doesn't move the needle.
