Binyamin positions himself as a dedicated, hands-on learner bridging the gap between theoretical certification and practical IT infrastructure management. His content strategy centers on the "build in public" ethos, where he meticulously documents the technical hurdles and resolutions encountered within his homelab environments. What makes him notable is his focus on troubleshooting as a narrative device, moving beyond simple "how-to" guides to showcase the critical thinking required to solve network connectivity and permission conflicts. This creates a compelling intersection of rigorous certification pursuit and transparent technical documentation, establishing him as a practitioner who values the "why" behind the workflow just as much as the credential itself.

Active Directory Homelab: Group Policy and Security Hardening
This weekend I continued expanding my Windows Server 2022 homelab by focusing on Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and user security.
My objective was to move beyond basic user creation and implement the kind of security policies used in enterprise environments.
✅ Created a custom GPO to enforce strong password complexity
✅ Implemented an Account Lockout Policy to prevent brute-force attempts
✅ Configured a 'Banner' policy to display a legal notice at user logon
✅ Restricted access to the Command Prompt and Control Panel for standard users
✅ Tested policy application using 'gpupdate /force' and 'gpresult /r'
Working through these settings helped me see how powerful GPOs are for maintaining security and consistency across a domain. It wasn't all smooth — I had to troubleshoot why one policy wasn't applying to the correct OU — but that's where the real learning happens.
I am enjoying the process of breaking things and fixing them in a controlled environment.
What are some 'must-have' GPOs you recommend for a production environment?
